Pineapple Strawberry Agua Fresca

  • Author: Dianna
  • Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ripe pineapple (peeled, cored, and cut into chunks): The pineapple is the star of the show. It adds that tropical, tangy sweetness that makes this agua fresca so refreshing. Make sure to use a ripe pineapple for the best flavor!
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries (hulled): The strawberries bring sweetness and a gorgeous pink hue to the drink. You can use fresh or frozen, but I recommend fresh for the best taste.
  • 4 cups cold water: This is the base of the agua fresca and helps dilute the fruit for a light, drinkable consistency. Feel free to add more or less depending on how concentrated you want the flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or sweetener of your choice): You only need a small amount of honey to bring out the natural sweetness of the fruit. If you prefer a sugar-free version, you can use agave nectar or a few drops of stevia.
  • Ice cubes: For serving! It’s best to serve this agua fresca chilled with lots of ice for the ultimate refreshing experience.

Instructions

  • Prepare the Fruit
    • Start by preparing your pineapple. Cut off the top and bottom, and then slice off the tough outer skin. Once you’ve removed the skin, cut the pineapple into quarters and slice out the core. Cut the remaining fruit into chunks.
    • Next, hull the strawberries by cutting off the green tops. You can also cut them in half for easier blending.
  • Blend the Fruit
    • Place the pineapple chunks and strawberries into a blender. Don’t be afraid to pack them in there! Blend on high for about 30-45 seconds, until the fruit is completely smooth. If you like a chunkier drink, you can blend for less time to keep some texture.
  • Add Water and Sweetener
    • Once the fruit is blended, add the cold water to the blender. Add the honey (or your preferred sweetener) and blend again for 10-15 seconds, until everything is well combined.
  • Strain (Optional)
    • If you prefer a smoother agua fresca, you can strain the mixture to remove any pulp or fibrous bits. Simply pour the blended drink through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher, using a spoon to help press out the juice. This step is optional but will give you a silky-smooth texture.
  • Chill and Serve
    • Once your agua fresca is blended, pour it into glasses over ice. If you’re making a large batch, store it in the fridge for up to 3 hours before serving. The colder, the better!
  • Garnish (Optional)
    • For a little extra flair, garnish your agua fresca with a few fresh mint leaves or a slice of pineapple on the rim of the glass. This adds a pop of color and a fresh herbal note.
