Fresh Fruit Salad

  • Author: Dianna
  • Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

  • 2 cups strawberries: Fresh, ripe strawberries are the star of the show. Their sweet, slightly tart flavor balances out the other fruits in the salad.
  • 1 cup blueberries: These little berries add a burst of color and are packed with antioxidants.
  • 2 cups watermelon: Watermelon is a classic choice for a fruit salad. It’s juicy, sweet, and adds a refreshing crunch.
  • 1 cup grapes: Sweet and small, grapes are perfect for fruit salads. Use a mix of red and green grapes for variety.
  • 2 ripe peaches: Peaches add a juicy, soft texture that complements the crunchier fruits. They bring a summery feel to the dish.
  • 1 banana: The creamy texture of the banana adds depth to the salad.
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint: Fresh mint adds a refreshing, aromatic kick that ties everything together.
  • 2 tablespoons honey: A touch of honey enhances the sweetness of the fruits and adds a glossy finish to the salad.
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice: Lime juice brightens up the flavors and adds a zesty, tangy note to the dressing.

Instructions

  • Prepare Your Ingredients:
Start by washing all your fruits thoroughly. I always like to wash my berries, grapes, and peaches in a colander under cold running water. For the watermelon, cut off both ends, then slice it into thick wedges. From there, you can cut the watermelon into cubes. For the bananas, peel and slice them into rounds.
  • Cut the Fruits:
After washing, cut the strawberries into quarters. For the peaches, slice them in half, remove the pit, and then cut them into wedges or bite-sized pieces. If you’re using seedless grapes, simply cut them in half. If you’re using larger grapes, you can leave them whole, but I find cutting them in half helps them blend better with the other fruits.
  • Combine the Fruits:
In a large bowl, gently combine all your chopped fruits. The strawberries, blueberries, watermelon, grapes, peaches, and banana should be mixed together in a way that allows each fruit to shine.
  • Make the Dressing:
In a small bowl or jar, whisk together the honey and lime juice. If the honey is too thick, warm it up for a few seconds in the microwave or on the stovetop to make it easier to drizzle. The lime juice adds a fresh, tangy flavor that really brings out the natural sweetness of the fruit.
  • Toss the Salad:
Drizzle the honey-lime dressing over the fruit and toss gently. Be careful not to mash the fruit while tossing; just give it a light stir to ensure everything is coated. The honey will add a subtle sweetness, and the lime will give it a zesty finish.
  • Add Fresh Mint:
Finally, chop the fresh mint leaves finely and sprinkle them over the fruit salad. Fresh mint adds such a delightful, refreshing note that complements the sweetness of the fruit and the tanginess of the lime.
  • Serve Immediately:
This salad is best served fresh, as the fruit will start to release its juices and become a bit soggy after a while. If you’re making it ahead of time, you can store it in the fridge for a few hours before serving, but be sure to add the mint right before serving to keep it fresh.
