  • Author: Dianna
  • Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

Here’s everything you’ll need to make this epic sandwich:

  • 4 slices sourdough bread: Choose a hearty, bakery-style sourdough for the best results.
  • 2 tablespoons butter: Softened for spreading on the bread.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil: For cooking the turkey and beef.
  • 200g beef turkey (halal): Thinly sliced or shredded. You can substitute chicken if preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika: Adds depth and a touch of smokiness.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder: Enhances the savory flavor.
  • Salt and black pepper: To taste.
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese: Grated for easy melting.
  • Optional: Sliced tomato, pickled jalapeños, or caramelized onions for added flavor.

Instructions

1. Prep Your Ingredients

  • Grate the cheddar cheese and set it aside.
  • Slice the sourdough bread and butter one side of each slice.

2. Cook the Turkey and Beef Mixture

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the turkey slices and season with smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir occasionally until the turkey is slightly browned and fragrant (about 4-5 minutes).
  • Remove from the pan and set aside.

3. Assemble the Sandwich

  • Place two slices of sourdough on a clean surface, buttered side down.
  • Layer the grated cheddar cheese evenly on top of the bread.
  • Add the cooked turkey and beef mixture.
  • For extra flavor, add optional toppings like sliced tomatoes or caramelized onions.
  • Top with the remaining slices of sourdough, buttered side up.

4. Cook the Sandwich

  • Heat a clean skillet over medium heat.
  • Place the assembled sandwiches into the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula to ensure even toasting and melting.
  • Flip carefully and cook until both sides are golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.

5. Serve and Enjoy

  • Slice the sandwiches diagonally for a classic presentation.
  • Serve hot with your favorite sides or dipping sauces.
